Access

Less able guests are requested to telephone to discuss their particular requirements. Please note that access to The Arches is via a shallow flight of 5 steps with hand rail. Regrettably, The Arches is not suitable for wheelchair bound guests. A full Access Statement is available on request. You will enjoy this holiday by the sea.

Bishop Of Whitby Has Heart Attack

The Bishop Of Whitby is recovering in hopsital in Italy after suffering a heart attack while on holiday. The Right Reverend Martin Warner took ill in Florence on Monday 23rd August. It is understood he was alone and suffered a cardiac arrest. The Bishop is being "very well looked after" according to a spokesman and is out of intensive care. The news is a shock as the Bishop is a very fit man who does a lot of cycling. Prayers are being said by congregations across the Whitby area and diocese, the Whitby Gazette reported.

Whitby Wave Dodgers Safety Warning

Teenagers seen wave dodging near Whitby Pier this week have been given a stark warning after a teenager tragically lost his life near there last week in a rip tide. Horrified onlookers watched as teenagers played a game of wave dodging on Whitby's West Pier slipway as high winds battered the East Coast. A Whitby coastguard spokesman said "we need people to use common sense and would particularly ask parents to keep their children back from the water's edge when conditions are bad."
